Planner March 29, 2009

I’ve decided to embark on a little mini project. Just  some idea that i’ve picked up out of the 101 random things drifting aimlessly around in my head.  Well initially i meant to sketch like a different scene for everyweek, with the days of the week in the picture so it becomes a sort of organiser/daily planner thing. [you get the idea] COOL HUH{: i was even fantasizing about how it could potentially be a new fad, and i’ll sell my idea to a major printing company, become rich and famous, have my own private plane, jetsetting all over the world, take over candy empire and free the jolly singing oompah loompas from the tyrannical rule of the evil capitalistic despot Willy Wonka.  Together, me and my army of dwarfmen will be a new force to be reckoned with{: I was basically inspired by a planner i saw at one of my favourite shops, woodwould(: It’s a fully illustrated planner book, 100% hand-drawn(as claimed on the website). The different days are presented on a background of shophouses with a considerable amount of space to scribble down stuff. I love the style of the illustrations, it kind of reminds me of moleskine sketches but i wanted to do something a little more detailed.

The medium and subject matter are painfully obvious.  But anyway:

Medium: Pen[ The type i do my homework with] on paper[made from wood]

Subject Matter: Non-existent street

I am proud to say i drew this without any reference whatsoever{: The lines are intentionally left crooked cause i wanted it to have a sort of spontaneous whimsical feel to it, hahah but it ended up looking kinda messy. Oh well, i guess this will go down the list of ‘adalyn’s grand plans and failed attempts’. ):

P.S i realised Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be included in the days of the week, both of which i conveniently left out.

Hey world.

Just thought i’ll share some photos i took whilst in Perth during the Dec holidays.

Title: Experience Australia

Medium: Photography

Year: 2008

I edited the photos using an online software[Picnik] later on, tweaking the colour intensity and saturation. That’s why the colours look kinda weird. I know it seems rather overdone but that was my main intention anyway{: I wanted to enhance the natural colours to bring highlight certain features.

Well, these were the only few photos i could find that were not plastered with fats faces and silly grins of me and my cousins. And that seemingly have any trace of artistic viewpoints or value. The first three were taken in Perth. The first one holds special significance to me as it was taken during my cousin’s death memorial. The next six photos were taken in Pemberton, and the last one in Busselton, both small towns down south of Perth [i think]. I must admit these photos are no where near professional but it’s my attempt at capturing what i felt was the essence of Perth. Isn’t it strange how one starts to notice the finer details in life on holiday. From a tiny dew drop poised on the tip of a blade of grass, to the colour of the sky at different times of the day, all of which back home we are too caught up in our hectic lives to pause and take a second glance.

These aren’t perfect photos, but it’s my take on what you’re missing out {; Enjoy
